Hi everyone! Happy belated New Year! I hope everyone’s 2018 is off to a good start.
I’ve learned a lot lately in my GPR program, and I have since realized that dental school only covers the basics of dentistry. There’s so much more out there to learn! Continuing Dental Education is mandatory but it doesn’t have to be expensive. Most of us are on social media anyway, so why not put that wasted time to good use and follow these Dentistry-related Instagram accounts?
For those of you who are studying for the upcoming national dental quiz, take a break (or continue procrastinating…) and have a look at some of these Instagram accounts. Who knows, maybe you’ll pick up some useful tidbits for the OSCE!

- @celebritydentistry – Behind the scenes of your favourite Hollywood smile. It’s not gossip, it’s studying! Can you recall the features of Cleidocranial Dysplasia?
- @failed_dentist – What NOT to do! You’ll laugh, you’ll cry… you’ll feel better about your own skills and knowledge.

Click Read More to see the rest of my favourite Instagram dental accounts! In this post I will share my favourite Oral Surgery, Pathology and Prosthodontics instagram accounts. Many of them feature surgical images or pictures of badly infected teeth, so VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED.
Oral Surgery
- @bloodytoothguy – BTG is the OG!! This OMFS was the first dental-related Instagram account I ever followed! He posts a lot of Insta-stories or videos of wisdom teeth extractions, surgical canine exposures and implant cases.
- @thejawdoc – is a OMFS resident in Chicago. He is still in residency, so his posts feature a lot of cases that wouldn’t show up in a private practice setting.
- @maxillofacialanatomy – Dr. Iwanaga provides your feed with some anatomy refreshers.
Oral Pathology
- @LSUoralpathology – Dr. Cordell & Dr. Rosebush are OMF pathologists at Louisiana State University. Their posts feature great clinical photographs, followed by histological slides, diagnosis and useful notes!
- @central_ohio_oral_pathology – Dr. Briody and Dr. Allen are OMF Pathologists at COSC. They also post a lot of interesting cases, and the occasional Clinical Pearls of wisdom.
Prosthodontics
- @denturequeen – Dr. Valerie Cooper is a prosthodontist who uses a digital workflow to make her dentures. Very cool.
- @drsinada – Dr. Naif Sinada does a lot of fixed and removable prosthodontics, as well as implants! Lots of useful prosth tips shared on his feed.
- @dr.gothsiu – Dr. Goth Siu is a Toronto-based prosthodontist who does a lot of cosmetic, implant and reconstructive dentistry. His feed is full of amazing before & afters. PS: I’m very jealous of his beautiful clinic in Yorkville!
- @prosthproblems – Plenty of tongue-in-cheek posts, but also quite educational!
- dr_bedrossian – Dr. Armand Bedrossian is a 3rd year Prosth resident at U of Washington, sharing what he’s learned along the way.
- @stephaniezellerdds – Dr. Zeller is a prosthodontist from Seattle whose posts feature a lot of full-arch or full-mouth reconstruction with digital workflow.
